A 25 year old male is brought in by ambulance after suffering a tonic-clonic seizure at home.
A 25 year old male is brought in by ambulance after suffering a tonic-clonic seizure at home. He reports that he used to experience seizures regularly however after he was placed on Phenytoin 300 mg once daily PO approximately 5 months ago this had effectively treated his seizures. A trough plasma phenytoin concentration level is taken just prior to his next dose to check whether his maintenance dose is correct. The level is reported as 35 umol/L.
