A 35-year-old gentleman was brought in by ambulance after he was found unconscious on the road.

A 35-year-old gentleman was brought in by ambulance after he was found unconscious on the road. Upon examination, he had fetor hepaticus, was jaundiced, had a large distended abdomen with caput medusae. After gaining consciousness, he was confused and appeared to be shaking. His past medical history was significant for oesophageal varices, hepatic encephalopathy, alcohol-related seizures, alcohol withdrawal syndrome and multiple hospital admissions associated with alcohol abuse. He is not compliant with his medications and does not attend his GP appointments. His blood results showed deranged liver function tests.

Prescribe a medication to treat hepatic encephalopathy.
