A 4 year old girl is brought to see the GP by her mother for an emergency appointment after she picked her up from nursery and vomited multiple times on the journey home. Nursery staff noticed that she had seemed unwell, had seemed quieter than usual and had complained of feeling sick. Her mother noticed that she had started to develop red spots over her abdomen. On examination the child feels hot and is reluctant to be examined. Her eyes are closed and when asked why she says the room is too bright. A non-itchy rash is present on the abdomen and chest.
