A 58-year-old woman presents to her GP with symptoms of mood swings, hot flushes, low libido, and general malaise. She has been struggling with these symptoms for the past 3 months, and thought that they would eventually pass, but they have persisted. She has a history of hypertension, iron deficiency anaemia and migraines without aura. The GP believes she may be suffering from symptoms of menopause and on further targeted history, she reveals her last period was 18 months ago, and she still has an intact uterus.

Prescribe one form of HRT, and the route of administration, that will decrease the symptoms this woman is experiencing.
