A 65-year-old male presents to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain.

A 65-year-old male presents to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain. He described how 15 minutes previous he had felt a ‘ripping’ sensation in his back before a friend was able to quickly drive him to the emergency department. He complains the pain in his back is a 10/10. He is currently hypertensive at 200/120 mmHg. A CT angiography of the chest is performed which reveals a Stanford type B aortic dissection.
