A 66-year-old lady is post-op day 3 for a right hemiarthroplasty. Since being on the ward she has reported feeling more breathless and, when asked, states she has coughed up some bright
red blood. The recent bloods show a raised D-dimer – you order a CTPA which confirms she has an acute pulmonary embolism. It is currently 8am.
Please prescribe the most appropriate initial management.
