A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to Queen's University Belfast School of Medicine who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Queen's Belfast

Understand what to expect from the Queen's Belfast interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Queen's Belfast medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Queen's Belfast. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Queen's Belfast format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Queen’s Belfast medicine interview questions and format

Queen’s Belfast medicine interviews for 2027 entry use multiple mini interviews (MMIs). Home fee paying applicants are interviewed in person in Belfast between December and March, at a nine-station MMI that lasts over an hour, while international fee paying applicants are interviewed online. Your interview invitation will confirm the format and timings for your interview.

Queen’s Belfast says its interviews are designed to assess qualities such as empathy, problem solving, moral reasoning and communication. Your preparation could cover how you explain your thinking, how you respond to people in different situations and what you have learnt from your experiences.

How to prepare for your Queen’s Belfast medicine interview

Get to know Queen’s Belfast and prepare your examples

Think about why you want to study medicine at Queen’s Belfast, where clinical skills and early patient contact begin in Year 1 and students learn alongside simulated participants. Reflect on times you have shown empathy, worked through a problem or communicated with someone in a difficult situation. Queen’s Belfast also suggests looking at its sample MMI stations to become familiar with the format.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Queen’s Belfast medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Queen’s Belfast medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Queen's Belfast interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Queen's Belfast will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official Queen's University Belfast course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by Queen's University Belfast.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Queen's Belfast. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to Queen's University Belfast School of Medicine, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
Do Queen’s Belfast MMIs include role-play stations?
Yes. Queen’s Belfast’s in-person circuit has 12 stations: nine with interviewers and three rest stations. Four of the stations use role players, so it helps to practise responding to someone in a conversation as well as answering questions.
What should I bring to my Queen’s Belfast medicine interview?
Bring photographic ID, usually a valid passport or driving licence, which will be checked when you register. The interview itself lasts over an hour, so Queen’s Belfast suggests bringing a bottle of water, and you should allow plenty of time for travel and parking.
