A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to Brunel Medical School who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Brunel

Understand what to expect from the Brunel interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Brunel medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Brunel. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Brunel format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Brunel medicine interview questions and format

Brunel’s medicine interviews for 2027 entry are asynchronous virtual multiple mini interviews (vMMIs) on the Shortlister platform. You complete six scenario-based stations within five days of your invitation, with 30 seconds of thinking time and up to five minutes to answer each one, taking around 40 minutes in total. Your interview invitation will confirm the dates and timings for your interview.

Each station assesses a different attribute aligned with the GMC’s Good Medical Practice, and the scenarios do not test biology or detailed medical knowledge. Your preparation could focus on your motivation and values, your understanding of the role of a doctor, what you have learnt from your experiences, and how clearly you explain your reasoning.

How to prepare for your Brunel medicine interview

Get to know Brunel and prepare your examples

Think about why you want to study medicine at Brunel and what appeals to you about how the course is taught, including team-based learning in small teams and supervised contact with patients in general practice from Year 1. Brunel encourages applicants to show their own motivations and values rather than rehearsed answers. Reflect on your experiences so you have genuine examples to draw on.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Brunel medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Brunel medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Brunel interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Brunel will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official Brunel University of London course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by Brunel University of London.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Brunel. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to Brunel Medical School, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
Can I make notes during the Brunel vMMI?
Yes, but only with pen and paper during your thinking time. Brunel warns that typing may be flagged by the system as potential AI use, and AI tools are not permitted at any point during your interview.
How are Brunel vMMI scores used?
Brunel ranks applicants on their overall vMMI score, and there is no requirement to pass a set number of individual stations. A cut-off is set each year based on how that cohort performs, and you will not receive an offer without completing an interview.
