A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to University of Buckingham Medical School who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Buckingham

Understand what to expect from the Buckingham interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Buckingham medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Buckingham. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Buckingham format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Buckingham medicine interview questions and format

Buckingham selects medicine applicants through a multiple mini interview (MMI), made up of a series of tasks linked to the GMC’s Good Medical Practice. Before the MMI, applicants who meet the academic requirements may also complete a computer-based Multiple Mini Assessment (MMA). Buckingham runs several selection days in each admissions cycle, and your invitation will confirm the format and timings for your interview.

Buckingham says the MMI assesses the personal attributes needed for practice as a doctor. Buckingham publishes limited detail about individual tasks, so your preparation could cover your reasons for choosing medicine and Buckingham, the professional standards set out in Good Medical Practice, and what your experiences have taught you about working with people.

How to prepare for your Buckingham medicine interview

Get to know Buckingham and prepare your examples

Think about why you want to study medicine at Buckingham, including its four-and-a-half-year course, January start and the low ratio of students to staff and patients it highlights. Reflect on what your work experience, volunteering or other responsibilities have taught you about communication and professional behaviour. You do not need polished answers yet, but having examples to draw on gives you a useful starting point.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Buckingham medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Buckingham medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Buckingham interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Buckingham will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official University of Buckingham course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by the University of Buckingham.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Buckingham. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to University of Buckingham Medical School, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
What is the Buckingham Multiple Mini Assessment?
The MMA is a computer-based test made up of a series of tasks designed to assess analysis, interpretation and judgement. Applicants who perform satisfactorily move on to the MMI, and Buckingham says exceptionally high-performing applicants may receive an offer at this stage.
Can I use AI during my Buckingham MMI?
No. Buckingham states that the use of artificial intelligence within the MMI is not permitted. Your answers should reflect your own thinking and experiences.
