A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to Imperial College School of Medicine who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Imperial

Understand what to expect from the Imperial interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Imperial medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Imperial. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Imperial format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Imperial medicine interview questions and format

Imperial’s medicine interviews are Multiple Mini Interviews, typically held throughout January and February. In the previous admissions cycle, applicants completed six stations, and Imperial explains that you have five minutes to answer the questions at each station. Your interview invitation will explain in detail how the interview will work.

Imperial says the main topics include teamwork and leadership, motivation to study medicine, understanding the role of a doctor, empathy and breaking bad news, ethics and values-related scenarios, and data interpretation. The school also considers commitment to the values of the NHS Constitution, your understanding of medicine as a career, and your work experience and community activities.

How to prepare for your Imperial medicine interview

Get to know Imperial and prepare your examples

Think about why you want to study medicine at Imperial and what appeals to you about an integrated MBBS and BSc, with case-based learning, early clinical experience and a research-focused BSc year. Imperial encourages you to keep notes on your work experience and reflect on what it showed you about the realities of medicine, including its challenges. You do not need polished answers yet, but having examples to draw on gives you a useful starting point.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Imperial medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Imperial medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Imperial interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Imperial will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official Imperial College London course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by Imperial College London.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Imperial. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to Imperial College School of Medicine, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
How are Imperial MMI answers marked?
Imperial marks each station out of six for content, meaning what you say, and out of four for communication, meaning how you say it. The school notes that there is often no right or wrong answer, as interviewers are assessing your ability to explain and reflect on your thinking.
Will Imperial interviewers see my personal statement?
Your personal statement may be referred to during the interview. In the previous admissions cycle, it was given to the interviewers at the Commitment to Medicine station, where applicants could discuss their motivation and aspects of their application in more detail.
