A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to Keele University School of Medicine who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Keele

Understand what to expect from the Keele interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Keele medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Keele. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Keele format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Keele medicine interview questions and format

Keele’s medicine interviews for 2027 entry will take place online using Microsoft Teams. Rather than an MMI, you will have two 15-minute interviews, usually around two hours apart. Your interview invitation will confirm the format and timings for your interview.

Keele assesses applicants against its person specification for medical students, with additional emphasis on the broader roles and responsibilities of doctors. Your preparation could cover your understanding of what a doctor does, the skills you have developed, how you communicate with and support people from different backgrounds, and the ethical and social issues linked to health and illness.

How to prepare for your Keele medicine interview

Get to know Keele and prepare your examples

Think about why you want to study medicine at Keele and what appeals to you about its spiral, integrated curriculum, with placements from the first year and small-group learning built around clinical cases. Reflect on what your experiences have taught you about the role of a doctor and about working with people from a range of backgrounds. You do not need polished answers yet, but having examples to draw on gives you a useful starting point.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Keele medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Keele medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Keele interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Keele will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official Keele University course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by Keele University.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Keele. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to Keele University School of Medicine, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
Will Keele send me anything to read before my medicine interview?
Yes. Keele sends materials in advance, usually one to two days before your interview, so you do not need to read during it. For the first interview this is the professionalism section of the GMC’s Achieving Good Medical Practice, and for the second it is a short case, but you are not expected to memorise anything from these texts.
How does Keele use my interview performance?
Keele bases its decision on whether to offer you a place on your performance at interview. Applicants whose performance is close to the offer threshold may be placed on a reserve list, and applicants tied at the final threshold are ranked by UCAT score.
