A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to University of Nottingham School of Medicine who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Nottingham

Understand what to expect from the Nottingham interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Nottingham medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Nottingham. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Nottingham format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Nottingham medicine interview questions and format

Nottingham’s medicine interviews for 2027 entry are scheduled between 15 December 2026 and 29 January 2027. Home applicants will be invited to interview in person and international applicants online via Microsoft Teams, with an interview of up to one hour made up of six scenarios, including at least one role play. Your interview invitation will confirm the format and timings for your interview.

Nottingham says the interview assesses the personal qualities usually considered important for practising medicine. Your preparation could cover your communication and listening skills, your understanding of teamwork and respect for patients and other health professionals, and a realistic idea of what being a doctor involves.

How to prepare for your Nottingham medicine interview

Get to know Nottingham and prepare your examples

Read about how Nottingham’s course moves from the Art of Medicine to the Science of Medicine and then the Practice of Medicine and Surgery, revisiting topics through a spiral curriculum. Nottingham may ask about your knowledge of the profession and the scope of a doctor’s role, so reflect on what you learnt from any work experience or conversations with people working in the NHS. In-person NHS work experience is not expected, so draw on whatever experiences have shaped your understanding.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Nottingham medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Nottingham medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Nottingham interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Nottingham will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official University of Nottingham course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by the University of Nottingham.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Nottingham. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to University of Nottingham School of Medicine, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
How does Nottingham decide who gets an offer after interview?
Nottingham makes offers based solely on interview performance. Your personal statement and reference are not scored, but they are reviewed after the interview to check they are satisfactory before an offer is made.
Can I request reasonable adjustments for my Nottingham interview?
Yes. Nottingham asks you to give full details on the interview booking form, with supporting evidence if needed, and needs at least five working days’ notice before your interview to consider the request.
