A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to Oxford Medical School who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Oxford

Understand what to expect from the Oxford interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Oxford medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

Afternoon: mocks and feedback

Put the teaching into practice through tutor-assessed mocks, personal feedback and observation.

Closing questions

Ask any remaining questions and plan your next steps. Breaks and lunch are built into the day.
1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Oxford. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Oxford format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Oxford medicine interview questions and format

Oxford’s medicine interviews for 2027 entry will take place online via Microsoft Teams in December 2026. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed by two colleges, usually their college of choice and a second college allocated at random, by at least two academics at each college and at least one practising clinician. The number and format of interviews can vary between colleges, so your invitation will confirm the format and timings for your interview.

Oxford describes its interviews as academic conversations, similar to a short tutorial, designed to explore how you think and engage with new ideas. Your preparation could cover your motivation for medicine, empathy, communication, ethical awareness and working with others, alongside problem-solving and curiosity about science.

How to prepare for your Oxford medicine interview

Get to know Oxford and prepare your thinking

Oxford teaches through small-group tutorials, so think about how comfortable you are explaining your reasoning, listening and responding to new information. Practise thinking through unfamiliar problems out loud rather than relying on prepared answers, and reflect on what has motivated your interest in medicine and science. Oxford’s official interview guidance, including demonstration videos and sample questions, is a useful starting point.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Oxford medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Oxford medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Oxford interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Oxford will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official University of Oxford course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by the University of Oxford.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Oxford. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to Oxford Medical School, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
Will my Oxford interviewers know my UCAT score or college choice?
No. Oxford says college interviewers are not aware of your UCAT score or your college choice when interviewing, and you should not reveal your choice to them. Your UCAT score is considered alongside the colleges’ rankings after the interviews.
What happens if I am ill at the time of my Oxford interview?
Contact the Tutor for Admissions at the college that has invited you as soon as possible, or ask a teacher or family member to do so. The college will see whether alternative arrangements can be made, although Oxford says an alternative date is not always possible.
