The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from St Andrews. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the St Andrews format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve. Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.
St Andrews medicine interview questions and format
In the previous admissions cycle, St Andrews used multiple mini-interviews, usually four stations of about six minutes each. Home-funded applicants were interviewed in person in St Andrews, while applicants with any other fee status were interviewed online. Your interview invitation will confirm the format and timings for your interview.
St Andrews says you will be expected to show an understanding of medicine as a career and an appreciation of the realities of working in a caring profession. Your preparation could cover your communication and interpersonal skills, how you reflect on your experiences, and how you think through ethical situations.

Get to know St Andrews and prepare your examples
St Andrews offers a six-year course, with three years at St Andrews leading to a BSc (Hons) in Medicine before you complete your MBChB at a partner medical school. Think about why that structure and its focus on small-group learning and early clinical experience appeal to you. Reflect on what your work experience has shown you about caring for people, so you have examples ready to draw on.
Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.
Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice
If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current St Andrews medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Will I practise the exact questions St Andrews will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official University of St Andrews course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by the University of St Andrews.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to St Andrews. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to St Andrews School of Medicine, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
What ID do I need for my St Andrews medicine interview?
St Andrews asks you to bring an original, signed, in-date photo ID, such as a passport, photocard driving licence or government-issued ID card. Copies, student cards and bus passes are not accepted, and your name and date of birth must match your UCAS application. Without acceptable ID, you will not be allowed to sit the interview.
Can I change my St Andrews interview date?
St Andrews expects you to accept the date offered because of the large number of applicants. The School will try to offer another date if you have an exceptional reason, such as another interview, an exam or illness, but only where other interview dates still have space.
