A course for applicants ready to practise

This course is for applicants to Swansea University Medical School who want more practice, specific feedback and confidence answering questions out loud.

You do not need polished answers before you arrive. The day is there to help you develop them.

What you will get from the day

Teaching focused on Swansea

Understand what to expect from the Swansea interview and how to approach it. Your tutors will explain the format, work through examples and answer your questions, drawing on current published guidance and their own experience.

Interview practice with students who have been there

Practise explaining your thinking, choosing examples and responding when a question makes you pause. Your mocks are assessed by current Swansea medical students who know what it is like to be in your position.

Feedback you can put into practice

Your tutors will help you identify what is working and where your answers need attention. That might mean a clearer opening, more reflection on an experience or a more concise explanation of your reasoning.

Leave with a clearer idea of your strengths and what to work on before interview day.

A chance to learn from other applicants

Watching other applicants and hearing their feedback helps you spot what makes an answer clear and where it loses focus. You may recognise habits in your own answers and find ways to improve them.

Afternoon: mocks and feedback

1:1 Mentoring
The live course gives you the frameworks, the core topics and the confidence to handle any interview. To go further, book a 1:1 mentoring session with a current medical student from Swansea. They sat the same interview recently, so they can run realistic mock stations in the Swansea format, use the same timings, and give you honest, personal feedback on exactly what to improve.

Mentoring is new to Medibuddy, and we're adding new mentors and medical schools all the time. Sessions are booked separately from the live course and run on video at a time that suits you. You can start before the course, use them afterwards to practise what you've learned, or save them for a final mock just before your interview.

Swansea medicine interview questions and format

Swansea’s graduate-entry medicine programme selects through an assessment day held early in the New Year, with three face-to-face stations of 20 or 30 minutes each. Stations may take the form of interviews, presentations or role-play scenarios, and panels can include clinicians, academics, medical students and members of the public. Your interview invitation will confirm the format and timings for your assessment day.

Swansea lists communication, problem solving, coping with pressure, insight and integrity, organisation and research, and ethics and values among the qualities it looks for. Your preparation could cover your passion for medicine and resilience, what your degree and experience have taught you, and how you approach professional situations.

How to prepare for your Swansea medicine interview

Get to know Swansea and prepare your examples

Swansea’s four-year accelerated course for graduates includes clinical placements from the first term, alongside case-based learning, clinical skills and anatomy teaching. Think about why that pace and early patient contact suit you at this stage of your career. Reflect on how your degree, work and other experiences have prepared you, so you have examples ready to draw on.

Put your preparation into practice on our live interview course

Spend a day with current Swansea medical students who have successfully been through the interview. Your tutors will work through examples before you practise answering questions out loud in mock interviews. You will receive personal feedback and learn from watching other applicants and hearing their feedback.

Leave with a clearer idea of what to work on, whether that is choosing stronger examples, explaining what you learnt or making your answers more concise.

Book a mentor session for additional 1:1 practice

If you would like more individual support, book a mentoring session with a current Swansea medical student. Use the time for mock interview practice and personal feedback on the areas you want to improve. Mentoring sessions are booked and paid for separately; they are not included in the live interview course.

Common questions about the Swansea interview course

Will I practise the exact questions Swansea will ask?
We use practice questions and scenarios to help you develop your approach. These draw on current published guidance and our tutors' experience, rather than a promise of the exact questions you will be asked.
Is this an official Swansea University course?
No. This is an independent Medibuddy course, not run or endorsed by Swansea University.
Should I prepare before attending?
Think about why you want to study medicine, what you have learnt from your experiences and why you are applying to Swansea. Read the university's interview information too. You do not need to memorise answers.
What if I am nervous about practising in front of others?
That is a common reason to attend. You will practise with other applicants and supportive tutors, giving you a chance to work through the nerves before interview day.
Where does the course take place?
The whole course runs live online on Google Meet, so you can join from home. After booking you will get a Google Calendar invite with the Meet link and a confirmation email. Join with the email address you booked with.
Can I attend if I am under 18?
Yes. The course is designed for applicants to Swansea University Medical School, including those under 18.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for a full refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the course starts. To cancel or ask a question, email info@medibuddy.co.uk.
Does my GAMSAT or UCAT score count after the Swansea interview?
No. Swansea uses admissions test scores to decide who is invited to the assessment day, but once you reach that stage your results are not considered further. Any offer is based solely on your performance at interview.
Will I be asked about my personal statement at Swansea?
You might be. Swansea says you may be questioned on the content of your personal statement within one or more of the stations, so make sure you can talk confidently about anything you have written.
