The Anaesthetics CT1/ACCS interview changes from year to year, and the biggest fear for any candidate is getting to interview day and realising you've revised with a question bank that's totally outdated.

What to expect from the Anaesthetics CT1/ACCS interview
Anaesthetics CT1/ACCS is one of the most competitive entry points in medicine. In the 2025 round, 6,770 doctors applied for 539 posts, meaning there were more than 12 candidates for every place.
The interview consists of two 15-minute stations, each marked by two interviewers. But after allowing for breaks between stations and reading time, the total duration is closer to 50 minutes.
Station 1
Clinical Judgement Station
You get five minutes to review a clinical scenario and prepare to answer questions on it. The scenario will be about a situation or emergency that tests your clinical judgement, decision-making, teamwork and how you handle pressure. This is where the panel want to see safe, structured reasoning, not a rehearsed script.
Station 2
General Interview Station
This station covers a wide range of topics, giving you a chance to show that you're a well-rounded doctor and to highlight your strengths and achievements. It assesses your communication, professional behaviour, commitment to the specialty and reflective practice. Remember, concise, focused answers score best during this station.
How the interview is scored
The interview accounts for 85% of your final mark, with your MSRA score making up the final 15%. The Clinical Judgement and General Interview stations are marked against the Anaesthetics CT1/ACCS person specification.
